   It is unfortunate the name of the temple has been changed during the last few years. It was a Kannaki Amman temple and throughout Jaffna Peninsula many Kannaki Amman temples have been converted away from that name. Fortunately in Eastern Sri Lanka we still have Kannaki Amman temple. This temple has a story as retold by my mother , that the statute or the wood for the original statue came on aboard from India that was retrieved by the local people who built the temple. Hopefully people will remember the original name of the temple and its origin stories in years to come.
